Life Story for Virginia Odette Smith (Smith)

Virginia Odette Smith (Smith)
Reflections of a Life
Virginia Odette Smith, affectionately known as “Sugar,” was born April 14, 1957 to N.A. & Hazel Smith. Both parents preceded her in death. She attended elementary school at Booker T. Washington in Sapulpa, OK and graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1975. She also spent 2 years at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. After college she was employed 15 years as a reservation agent at AVIS Rent-a-Car. While working there she was awarded a trip to Ireland in the United Kingdom for her excellent work ethics.
“Sugar” joined Calvary Baptist Church at an early age, being baptized by the late Rev. T.J. Hale. She enjoyed singing in the choir and working with youth. She was Sunday School Superintendent & the Mission Vice President. She enjoyed watching cartoons, “Walker Texas Ranger”, sports and old game shows. She loved being with family. She was a surrogate mother to her nieces, nephews & a few “special girls.” They loved them some “Aunt Sugar” even though her discipline method was a definite correction – that long lasting pinch.
She leaves to cherish her memories 3 sisters, Jeanne “Kitty”, Jackie “Peaches” (Frank), Harriet “Tu Tu”; one brother, Wayne “Buster” (Sharon); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, her “first” Youth Group of whom she was very proud of and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday April 27, 2013. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the service to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312 www.greenhillok.com
