Life Story for William N. Sorrell

William N.  Sorrell
Wednesday, April 24, 2013 William Norman Sorrell, 81, left the arms of his loving family to walk through the pearly gates of heaven. He was born July 30, 1931, in Chelsea, Oklahoma to John and Minnie Sorrell. He graduated from Chelsea High School. He was married forty-three years to the love of his life, Shirley Strain, on November 12, 1953. They had a son and three daughters; Bobby, Linda, Glenda and Hope. He later married Eleene Bewley. He served as a Radio Operator in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Liberty Glass after thirty-nine years. William not only raised his children, he was like a father to more than twenty other young boys and girls and for Sunday church services and Wednesday night, made sure all that wanted had a ride to church.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Shirley Sorrell and Eleen Bewley Sorrell; his parents, John and Minnie Sorrell; son, Bobby Sorrell; and grandson, Rickey Rice. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands; Linda and Jim Slater, Glenda and Dale Maynard and Hope and John Cooper; twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Lea Staley; a brother, Johnny Sorrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Glen Hood officiating. Interment at Green Hill Memorial Gardens will follow. Visitation is scheduled Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 28th from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The family has chosen to entrust the care of the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home. 9182242312 www.greenhillok.com
