Life Story for Ira Edward Rongey Sr.

Ira Edward  Rongey Sr.
Ira Edward Rongey, Sr. 84, of Kiefer, OK, passed away on June 14, 2013.
The funeral service will be held on June 19th, 2013 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church of Sapulpa. Aubrey Roberts of Kiefer Christian Church and Mark Jackson of Yale Church of God will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 18th from 6-8 pm at Green Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Green Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Green Hill Funeral Home.
Ira was born in Kiefer, OK on January 15, 1929.
He was President of Kiefer Oil and Gas, working in the oil industry for over 60 years. He was also retired from the Kiefer Fire Department. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Kiefer. Ira was an active member of the Kiefer Lions Club, Kiefer Public School Foundations and namesake for Rongey Middle School; he was extremely influential in all aspects involving the community of Kiefer. Ira helped to plan many of the founding neighborhoods as a homebuilder in Kiefer. He enjoyed being with his family and rooting for the Kiefer Football team every season. A lover of Big Band music, Ira was instrumental in coordinating the annual fireworks show in Kiefer and loved listening and supporting the Trojan Marching Band, he also enjoyed seeing the Texas A&M marching band perform. Ira aspired to see the community grow and education flourish in his hometown of Kiefer.
Ira is survived by his wife of 34 years Noma Lee Rongey, his daughters, Sharon & (Robert) Atkins of Newnan, GA, Linda & (John) Surmont, Joyce Rongey, Janette & (Donald) Ashford, Mary & (Mike) Shadowens, his son, Ira E. Jr. “Eddie” & (Tashia) Rongey all of Kiefer, OK. Grandchildren Avery & (William) Warren of Allen, TX, Robert III & (Cathy) Atkins of Newnan, GA, Scott & (Tasia) Surmont of Okataha, OK, Kristen & (Gary) Hudson, Dennis & (Jennifer) Ashford, Carrie & (Jayme) Buck, Mark & (Lori) Shadowens, Marty & (Becky) Shadowens, Renea & (Jeremy) Garrett, Dominic Rongey, Taylor Rongey, Austin Rongey, Dalton Rongey all of Kiefer, OK, Ira Rongey, III & Whitley Rongey of Broken Arrow, OK and 19 great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Wanda Rongey, Francis Rongey and Helen Merchant, numerous nieces and nephews. Stepchildren Stan & Linda, Steve & Becky and Stuart Keeton and Susan & Andy Sutton and numerous step grandkids and step great grandkids.
Ira is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie & Alma Rongey of Kiefer, OK and infant son Don Edward Rongey. His siblings, Gene Rongey, Wilma Avila and Howard Rongey.
We are truly going to miss our Loving Husband, Daddy and Papa and are greatly influenced by his positive time on this earth.
