Life Story for Herschel Lee Sampson

Herschel Lee  Sampson
Herschel L. Sampson passed away June 17, 2013 Ranch Terrace Nursing Home, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He was born to Herman Sampson and Donna Virginia (Smith) Sampson on January 14, 1936 in McCurtain, Oklahoma.
Herschel married Nella Orrison on December 3, 1955 and to this union Beverly Jean and Michael Dean were born.
He graduated from Panama High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957. Herschel was a master machinist. He worked in different machine shops but retired from T. D. Williamson in 2001. He loved OU football, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team. He loved to play golf and dearly loved fishing. When younger he enjoyed playing baseball, fast pitch softball and boxing. He was a great boxer.
Herschel loved his family and enjoyed visiting with them and giving everyone advice…which was good advice, most of the time.
He was preceded in death by his mother, dad, stepmom and brother. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nella, of the home, daughter Beverly Woolery and Joe of Saint George, KS, son Michael D. Sampson of Kiefer, OK, brother Dean Sampson and Sharon of Muldrow, OK. 3 grandchildren; Amy Bina of Easton, PA, Darrell Smith and Kendra of Sapulpa and Blaine Sampson of Kiefer, OK, 6 great-grandchildren; Alec, Alexa and Austin Bina of Easton, PA, Skyler, Kammie and Daxton Smith of Sapulpa, OK. Lots of other family members and friends. Some very special friends; Smitty, Jack Fox, Marty, Ruffneck, Jim Hamilton, Jim Woodson, Joe Kiger, Sue Irvin, Ron Shelton, Jack Patty, Mike Latty, Cheryl Moore and Carol Hunter.
The family will meet with friends at Green Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Green Hill Funeral Home Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa, OK.
