William Eugene  Sommer
William “Bill” Sommer, age 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Born on April 18, 1937 in Cordell, OK to Anton and Ruby Sommer, he retired from OG&E as District Superintendent in Sapulpa, OK also working for the company in Ft. Smith, AR and Ardmore, OK. He was married to Vonna and lived in Arkansas until moving to Oklahoma in 1976. He and Vonna were married until her passing in 2003. Following her death, he married Adgelene in 2005, residing together in Oklahoma until his passing.
Bill was a very loving husband, dad and papa. There was nothing more important to him than his family, especially his grandchildren. He always enjoyed his weekly golf outings and teaching his grandchildren how to play poker. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help.
His passing will be felt by many and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Anton Sommer and Ruby Palmer; sister Sue Kent; brother-in-law Tommy Rush; first wife Vonna Sommer; son Donald Sommer. He is survived by his wife Adgelene; children Gary Sommer and wife Kristy, Patty Hanna and husband Rick; stepchildren Deanna McMahon and Shawn Rush. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Amber Mayfield and husband Billy, Justin Sommer and wife Amber, Alissa Hicks and husband Travis, Amy Sommer, Chelsea Sommer, Kerri McMahon and Aaron McMahon; his great-grandchildren Phoenix Mayfield and Wren Mayfield; brothers Jimmy Sommer and Steve Sommer; sisters Linda Derrington, Evelyn Wald and Sandy Hall; nieces, nephews and many friends.
