VERNON L. SCARBROUGH

Vernon L. Scarbrough, 73, died at his home on Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 after a short illness. He was surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Vern was born on March 9, 1941 in Waldron Arkansas, the son of Vernon and Edith Scarbrough. He was the oldest of three children.

He spent three years in the U.S. Army before settling down to raise a family with his wife Cynthia.

In 1968, Vern and his family moved to Reno, Nevada where he worked for 18 years at Viking Metallurgical. After retirement, Vern and his wife lived in Modesto, Ca, Salem, Oregon, and finally in Owasso, Oklahoma.

After his retirement, Vern split his time with his family and friends on his passions of fishing, shooting, hunting, and motorcycles. An avid boater, Vern was happiest on the water with a fishing pole and shoutin’ “Fish-On”.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia; son and daughter –in –law Vernon Jr and Karen of Reno, NV, his daughter Sally of Owasso, OK, sisters Helen Stepps of Modesto, CA and Nancy Scott of Reno, NV; five grandchildren, Payton, Jack, Aaron, Anna, and Chase; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso, Oklahoma.
