Life Story for Bobby G. "Bob" Russell

Bobby G. "Bob" Russell

Bobby Gene Russell, age 80, passed away peacefully at Homestead of Owasso on Sunday the 13th of April. He was born to Rufus and Velma Russell on August 28th, 1933 in Tulsa, OK.

Bob married Josephine in 1954 and had two children (Jolene Ross and Patty Hartman). Shortly after the birth of Patty complications arose and Josephine died. Some years later Bob married Sandy Bryce and had one child. (DaRonda Robison). This relationship became strained due to many reasons and therefore they divorced.

After all of this Bob luckily came across Barbara Collins at a Tastee Freeze. They began to date and sometime later became married. A couple of years later they had one child (Robert Russell). They were married for 47 years until God called Bob home.

Bob worked at Ottawa Packing Company in Miami, OK delivering fresh cut beef. Later he worked as a truck driver for J.H. Rose Trucking. While delivering products to GASO Pump he was approached and offered a job. He took that job and worked there for 23 years. After the down turn in the oil patch he bought a truck and started hauling oilfield items as a hotshot rig under E.L. Farmer. He did this until he retired.

In 1953 Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas. This lasted for two years. At Fort Riley Bob honed his skills as a mechanic working on many numerous items.

He loved to camp, fish and boat in his younger years. In his senior years he enjoyed volunteering his time weekly at the Allan Davis Baptist Missionary Center where he would help in the distribution of needs to many. He also made a trip to Butte, MT with others from Berryhill Baptist to put a new roof on a church in need.

He will be missed by many but we know that Bob is sitting with our Lord and Savior therefore we are happy for him and are not as saddened as we could be. This isn't because of his works, it's by the grace of God!
