Life Story for Doris Tatum

Doris  Tatum
Doris Ella Tatum passed into the arms of her Lord on June 30, 2014 at the age of 83. Doris was born to Ocea Leander and Martha Jane Bonds on November 1, 1930. Doris was born in Ackman, Colorado and raised there until they moved to Arizona. She met and married Virgil H. Tatum in Phoenix, Arizona on March 2, 1947.
Doris dedicated her life to God in a William Barham Revival in Phoenix, Arizona. She was always active in her church, teaching Sunday School, Missionettes, and working in the Women’s, ministry. She used to sing and play in the very nursing home that she later lived in.
Doris raised three kids, and in her later years raised her son Richard’s children after his wife died.
Doris was preceded in death by her former husband, Virgil H. Tatum, her parents Ocea and Jane Bonds, her brother George Elmer, “Uncle Bud” Bonds, and her sisters Lola Irene Bonds and Ruby Helen Bonds. She is survived by her three children, Janice L. Newman, Richard L. Tatum and Kathy F. Darnell, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her “ best friend” Charles Warren.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
