Life Story for Ruby R. Sharp

Ruby R. Sharp
Ruby Ray Wood came into this world on February 13, 1930weighing 13 pounds. In a humble home near Eufaula, Oklahoma, she was the fourth of five children born to Logan and Wilma Ona Wood. Soon after her birth, the family moved back to Hoyt, Oklahoma where they lived until Ruby was eleven years old. She always remembered and cherished those early years in Hoyt, where there was simplicity of life and closeness of kin. Like many families of this generation, they left the challenges and hard work of rural farm life and migrated to the city. Tulsa, Oklahoma provided employment for Logan and better education for the children, and Ruby graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1948.After graduation she worked as a secretary for several years until, seeking adventure, she and a friend moved to Fresno, California. She returned to Tulsa to marry James Leroy Sharp in 1955. During the nine years of their marriage Ruby and James had four children — Joanna, Vicki, Mark and Mike. In 1964 Ruby and her children moved to the Prairie Moon Ranch home in Owasso, Oklahoma where there were horses and cattle on 33 acres with a barn and beautiful pond. This home was the gathering place for family, extended family and friends for the 50 remaining years of her life. Her mother lived with them for almost a decade, helping raise the children while Ruby built a career at Zebco to provide a better life for herself and her children. She loved those 27 years at Zebco, made many lifelong friends, and retired as a buyer in 1992.After retiring she was able to focus completely on the true joy of her life, which was her family. She had a significant hand in helping raiseeach and every one of her thirteen grandchildren. The person she was could be seen most clearly through the eyes of her family, to whom she was beloved. Her legacy is carried on by her children, her grandchildren— Josh, Dusti, Johnny, Robbie, Michael, Rachael, Jimye, Daniel, Colton, Randye, Bracken, Destrye and Logan — and her great grandchildren Rylee, Bailynn, Trenton, Danica, Ashley, Eleanor and Collin. Ruby Ray Sharp, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend left this life surrounded by her children and grandchildren on
September 22, 2014.
