Life Story for Richard David Powell

Richard David Powell

Richard Powell was born July 30, 1955 in Modesto, California to Edsel and Darlene Powell. He was raised in Arkansas, moved to Tulsa in his early 20’s and has been a resident of Sapulpa, Oklahoma for 20 years.

Richard worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was also a certified buyer for heavy equipment. Richard was extremely interested in hot rod vehicles, tractors and in fishing. His mother always said he could take a carburetor apart and put it back together at the age of five. He had a passion to bring back to life worn tractors, cars, RVs and other vehicles. He could make them seem brand new again. Richard had a very outgoing personality. He would take time to teach anyone willing to learn the skills and craftsmanship he had developed. Richard was always teaching something to someone and he was never afraid to learn new things himself. He was the kind of man who was never afraid to speak his mind or stand up for what he thought was right.

Preceding Richard in death is his father, Edsel Powell; his mother, Darlene Jackson; and sister, Janie Powell. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vickie Powell; his daughter, Annabelle Hawkins of Sapulpa; and three grandchildren, Alexis, Kolby and Brooklyn. Richard is also survived by two daughters from a previous marriage, Teena Merlin of West Virginia; Cathy Wilcox of Arkansas; and four more grandchildren.
